Gennaro Garcia's work interlaces fine art and social consciousness, inspired by the legacy of Mexican muralists and his experience as a public-school art teacher in South Central Los Angeles. Drawing from Critical Pedagogy and Critical Race Theory, Garcia uses art as a form of inquiry and liberation, engaging students and communities in dialogues on power, culture, and identity. Now a professor at CSU Sacramento, his paintings and teachings emphasize art's transformative role in social justice and education.
