    Wesley Frederick Jarvis studied at the Art Students League in New York and in Munich with Franz Mueller. He moved to Dallas in 1922 and taught at the Merdick Fine Arts School. In 1926, he returned to New York City and then moved Washington D.C., where he was elected as Federal Art Director. Finally, in the mid-1930s, he decided to settle down in Dallas, where he founded his own school called the "Texas School of Painting" at 4305 Ross Avenue.
