    San Antonio native, Eleanor Rogers Onderdonk was the daughter of artist Robert J. Onderdonk and the sister of artist Julian Onderdonk. Beginning in 1913, she studied at the Art Students League of New York with George Bridgeman, John C. Johansen, and Lucia Fairchild Fuller, and later studied landscape painting with John F. Carlson at Woodstock, N.Y. She began exhibiting at the San Antonio Art League as early as 1912, and her works were also included in shows at the State Fair of Texas, the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, and the Southern State Arts League. Eleanor Onderdonk later became curator of art at the Witte Museum in San Antonio from 1927 to 1958.
