    Inscribed verso: Edward Nichols (1819-1871) "Moat Mountain, NH" 16 x 13" / Born in New Hampshire, died in Peekskill NY / Studied painting under Hudson River School / Artist Jasper F. Cropsey 1851-1853. / Exhibited at the National Academy of / Design in N.Y.C. 1853-1871. / Provenance: / Estate of the artist, Peekskill, NY 1871 / Descended in the family, Bernardsville, NJ 1994 / Alexander Gallery, NY 1995 / Private collection Bronxville, NY 1996

    Condition Report*: Lined canvas; old varnish layer; appears to be minor in-painting near bottom extreme edge in lower left quadrant, as well as at edge of mountain range in upper right quadrant, and one small spot at center extreme right edge Framed Dimensions 23.5 X 20.5 Inches
