Claude F. Clark Sr was an African American painter and his career bridged the gap between the Harlem Renaissance of the 1920s through 1930s and the Black Arts Movement of the 1960s and 1970s. Many of his painting relate to the challenges faced by African Americans grappling with cultural identity and racial oppression.
