A severely elegant simplicity characterizes this pendant, whose chin-strap and shortened beak combine with the ridged raising of the body to suggest an influence from the Jalaca style. Various curl configurations emanate from the head, possibly derived from the curling crests of either a large raptor or the curasow. A small notch at the tip of the proper left tail was lost in the original hammering. The condition is good.

The lot is sold with a statement of authenticity from the distinguished expert Robert Sonin.
