Billy Hassell is both a Texas artist and environmentalist, and he melds both of these roles within his vibrant, semi-abstracted paintings of Texas animals and ecosystems. Hassell received a BFA from the University of Nortre Dame and an MFA from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. His work has been shown in major museums all around Texas such as The McKinney Avenue Contemporary, the Dallas Museum of Art, The Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, and the Laguna Gloria Art Museum. His work is also held in the permanent collections of the Dallas Museum of Art, the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, and The Museum of Fine Arts in Houston.
