    Old label on stretcher inscribed: 'The original sketch in sepia by Romney for this work is in the possession of the Fraser Eqr. Collection in Meadow ***'


    Condition Report*: Canvas has been cut from original stretcher and lined, surface obscured by thick old coat of varnish, cracklure different and signs of old overpaint all along right edge of canvas (1in.), small puncture repaired center chest, evidence of old inpaint in left shoulder area.
