Nationwide Art Center, Chicago, Illinois;
Dr. H.S. Gilbert, Hinsdale, Illinois, acquired from the above, 1972;
Thence by descent to the present owner.
The present work is currently listed on the Rehs Galleries, Inc., Antoine Blanchard Virtual Checklist as #MDRR2436.0002. A letter of authenticity from Rehs Galleries accompanies the lot. An additional letter of authenticity from Nationwide Art Center accompanies the lot, signed by Otto K. Kaiserauer and dated September 11, 1973.

Condition Report*:
Unlined canvas. Faint brownish smudge in lower left corner. Small dash of loss to the skirt of the woman with child at left, approximately 4-inches up from lower edge. Small vertical dash of brown accretion in center of lower edge. Some minor scuffing in upper right quadrant. Pigment separation to dark purple/black tones.
Under UV: apparent strengthening applied to darkest tones. Some modern pigments, particularly the whites and light- to mid-tone greys, fluoresce.
