This illustration which originally appeared on the cover of Range Rider Western also appeared on the cover of Walt Coburn's novel, Sky-Pilot Cowboy, Popular Library #166, 1948.

"Galt Magrath was only a younker when a grizzled old cowpuncher called Hipshot rode up with the news that his father, Preacher Sam Magrath, had been bushwhacked by rustlers. With Preacher Sam's Bible in one hand and a gun in the other, Galt roamed the Southwest with Hipshot, seeking to avenge his father's murder. His search took him to Dodge City, where he met Bat Masterson and first saw the woman who was to lead him to the band of outlaws."

A metal label on the frame reads: Original Painting/ Popular Library, Inc./ Presented by Ned L. Pines, Publisher.

From the Estate of Charles Martignette.
