The Alaskan Brown is sometimes called the Kodiak Bear, as it is found primarily throughout the Kodiak archipelago of south-western Alaska. They are larger than the interior Grizzly Bear - the largest subspecies of Brown Bear in fact - and they eat a lot of salmon. This is a terrific example, an imposing and impressive full-body mount standing approximately 7 feet, 4 inches high on a simulated rocky base fitted with wheels, with a brass plaque detailing that it was taken by Jim Davison on March 31, 1970, at West River, near Wildman Lake, Alaska, with taxidermy by Jonas Bros, Seattle.
