Description
A SIOUX BEADED HIDE SADDLE BLANKETc. 1900
sinew sewn and lane-stitched in numerous shades of opaque and translucent beads, with geometric designs around the perimeter, trimmed with hide fringe, metal discs and hawk bells
Length: 73 inches overall
Condition Report*:
In overall good condition. Hide with moderate wear including moderate soiling. Beadwork in good condition, except for some soiling, loss, and looseness in white areas, an approx. 5/8" x 1/2" pink loss in one triangle, an approx. 5/8" x 3/8" green with red border loss, and an approx. 3/8" x 1/2 " rust loss in a center cross motif. There is fraying of cloth edging, and various brown/black/rust spots on cloth. There is an approx. 3/4 " x 3/4" hole near rectangular slot for saddle. There is a loss of red ribbon and small round metal disk ornamentation. Sections of fringe are loose or detached from blanket body. No apparent restoration.
