Description
A Carl Bechstein Mahogany, Rosewood and Gilt Bronze-Mounted Grand Piano and Bench, Berlin, Germany, circa 1900-1901Marks: C. BECHSTEIN, BERLIN, B, (medallion), 54887

PROPERTY FROM A PRIVATE BEVERLY HILLS COLLECTOR
Based on the stamped number to the wooden frame to the underside of the case (54887), the Bechstein archives date the manufacture between 1900-1901.
Condition Report*:
Minor craquelure to legs, missing string of bronze near foot, bench with wear to finish to cane seating, two replaced bolts to harp fixture, some mounts in need of tightening, light age-related cracking to ends of some keys, dirt accretions, light craquelure to gold finish to inteior, scratching to interior of key cover; piano is without key, bench is likely a married period piece. Heritage does not guarantee the working order or completeness of pianos and ecourages prospective bidders to view the lot in person.
