    36-1/2 x 44 inches (92.7 x 111.8 cm)
Signed and titled on the reverse: Valton Tyler / "Shas Sha-Point Doo"

Valton Tyler art exists firmly outside traditional Texas landscapes. Instead he offers postmodernist and conceptualist works that are celebrated across the United States. Tyler is clearly inspired by European Surrealist artist with the majority of his works featuring clearly articulated curvilinear objects that seem to float in a barren desert landscape similar to Dali. Growing up in Texas City, the artist is haunted by the Texas City Disaster, considered the worst industrial accident in American history. After moving to Dallas, Tyler gained patrons in Lucille Teasel and Donald Vogel of Valley House Gallery. His success grew and soon Tyler was showing regularly in New York and Los Angeles. Compelled to create, Tyler sees his almost anthropomorphic forms as organo-mechanical shapes and attempts to create sculpture in the two dimensional. In the artist's words these animated industrial forms are "alive and have feelings. My forms communicate with one another. They are having fun together, and I feel free and happy when I am making them but I have to leave them and let them go their way."
