    Description

    JULIAN ONDERDONK (1882-1922)
    October 1905
    Oil on canvas
    14in. x 20in.
    Signed lower left
    Signed, dated, and titled verso

A masterful pastoral fall scene, Onderdonk has done a wonderful job capturing the atmospheric effects of light and shadow. He rarely includes figures in his landscapes, but this painting contains a surprise. Beside the sheep peacefully grazing, a solitary woman walks down the path toward the homestead carrying a basket in her arm.

    Provenance:
    Wayne Prokay
