    A LATE CLASSIC RIO GRANDE SERAPE
    c. 1870 woven in two panels and joined together at the center, of native handspun Churro wool in natural ivory, cochineal red, indigo blue, vegetal-dyed brown and synthetic-dyed peach and yellow, with a serrated diamond medallion against a field of squash blossom chains, side borders of interlocking motifs, ends with narrow bands

    Dimensions: 86 x 51 ½ inches


    Condition Report*: In overall good condition.  Approx. six small holes and approx. ten thin areas, each with warp threads exposed.  Tiny amounts of warp threads exposed overall.  A number of small areas of restoration, mostly along the edges.  No A or B side, but some fading of yarn.  Approx. eight stains, ranging from 1/2" to 3" in diameter, through the center, some apparent on both sides.  A superficial substance apparent over eight small areas of one side.
