The facial configuration of this standing female figure reveals both differences from and kinship to figures from the Luba and the Tabwa. The hairdress is related to coiffures seen on Tabwa figures, and the extensive torso scarification can be found on examples from both the above-mentioned groups. The breast-emphasizing gesture, one seen on Luba royal staffs among other sculptures, affirms the central importance of the matrilineage in group and social continuity. A well-patinated brass tack is inserted in the center of the back shoulder line. Other than very minor abrasions the condition is excellent.
