Description
TWO PLATEAU BEADED HIDE MODEL CRADLEBOARDSc. 1890
each decorated with floral elements in various shades of opaque and translucent beads
Lengths: 15 ½ and 10 ¾ inches
Condition Report*:
In overall good condition. Larger cradleboard: hide with loss around perimeter, some holes, tearing, and a dark approx. 3 x 4-1/2" stain on front. Additional stains overall. Evidence of what might be a native repair on right side under green wool mantle. Appears to have a loss of one row of beading at top center, as well as one row of burgundy beads comprising zigzag pattern on trunk of doll wrapper. Other beading in excellent condition. Five of eight of mantle's vertical hide ornaments present. Fringe loss on back of cradleboard. Smaller cradleboard: Hide with usual wear, some slight staining on front with speckled staining and a few small holes on back. Minor bead loss with no impact to pattern. Red wool bright and clean. No apparent restoration on smaller cradleboard.
