FOUR SOUTHERN PLAINS PEYOTE BOXESc.1950
including two cedar boxes, one with painted motifs; a painted pine box;
and a tooled leather box
Lengths: ranging from 14 ¾ to 21 ¼ inches
Condition Report*:
Overall 4 boxes in good condition. (1) Eagle image box: many surface scratches, pigment loss, wood loss along edges, metal latch broken, with piece detached and included (2) leather tooled box: surface scratches, leather stained, 2" x 1 1/4" area of pigment loss on small end (3) plain cedar box: nicks and scratches on surface, 5 puncture holes around latch, brass accents scratched and tarnished (4) painted cedar box: surface scratches and chipped along edges, signed "Betty Chetopah/W" on front tipi image, lid hinges loose
