An Olmec Jade Scepter
c. 1000 - 500 BC

Mottled gray-green stone. The head with an upright crescent, another crescent in the opposite direction and a raised diamond with the center cupped on each side and pierced through. Fine etched lines outlining the crescents. The end of the haft tapered to a fine edge and pierced. In excellent condition, somewhat stained from underground context.
