A SIOUX QUILLED HIDE MODEL TIPIc. 1880
mounted on a series of twenty-one wood poles, decorated with dyed porcupine quillwork, trimmed with quill-wrapped rawhide tassels terminating in metal cones inserted with dark green wool cloth

Condition Report*:
In overall fair condition. Deer skin hide with moderate wear, including moderate soiling, numerous (native?) repairs and some stiffness. Tears along bottom of approx. 1-1/8" x 7/8", approx. 1" x 1-/2", two tears in body of approx. 5/8" each, other tears including one of approx. 1/2," approx. 3/8", approx. 2-1/8," a hole approx. 1/2" x 1/2" in quilled area, approx. 1-1/2" x 1-1/4" tear with some repair, an approx. 1" long repair, an approx. 2-1/8" long repair, an approx. 2-3/8" long repair, an approx. 3" diagonal hide repair in quilling, 15-1/4" long repair from the top, 2-3/8" partially repaired split at the bottom, and an approx. 16-1/2" x 7" piece of another hide added to back. Three holes were found in hide body, a brownish-rust discoloration of approx. 8-1/2" x 5," and a brownish rust discoloration of 1-5/8" x 1-1/2," as well as a discoloration of approx. 4-1/2" x 2-3/4." There is are red (ink?) stains of approx. 3/8" long and 5/8" x 5/8." There are red pigment stains on the interior side. The wood
