Description
A Sioux Girl's Beaded Hide Dress with Panel Beltc. 1880
hide, brass and glass seed beads, tubular glass beads, sinew, commercial leather
Provenance:
The Larry Simmons Collection, Great Falls, VA
Length: 41 inches overall
Condition Report*:
Dress: In overall good to very good condition. Supple hide. Approx. one tear to hide and three others along the seams where bodice and dress meet. One tear, approx. 1" in length where the sleeve and fringe meet. One tear, approx. 3 3/4" in length with native repair on body. One tear, approx 3 1/2 " in length along seam where dress and fringe meet. Very minor bead loss. Lightly soiled.
Belt: In overall good condition. Leather with two punctures in beaded area. Some bead loss. Brass beads with oxidation. Remnants of tape on the interior. No apparent restoration.
