A NAVAJO MAN'S WEARING BLANKETc. 1890
woven of native handspun wool in natural ivory and brown, and aniline red and blue, with a variant Third Phase Chief's Pattern, composed of nine rectangular panels, each enclosing a serrated diamond, overlying a classic banded ground
Dimensions: 69 x 54 inches
Condition Report*:
In overall good condition. One small hole, exposing one broken warp. One area, approx. 10" x 5 1/2" of restoration (top, middle block in the catalog photo); same area with some exposed warps. Another area of restoration, approx. 12" x 1" along the top edge. Minor bleeding of red dye onto ivory areas. One stain, approx. 1 1/4" in diameter, apparent on both sides. Selvedge and corner ties intact.
