A Japanese Lacquered Four-Case Inro with Netsuke, late Edo Period2-3/8 inches high (6.0 cm) (inro)
The black ground case with depicting rice farmers within a mountainous landscape with houses in takamaki-e with heidatsu details in red, gold and black, fundame lacquer to the interior, cord leading to a carved bone netsuke in the form of an oni's head.
Condition Report*:
smaller missing flakes to the interior of the case, heavier losses to the bottom two cases and smaller missing flakes and rubbing throughout, age related cracking to the lid, light darking of the patina to the netsuke.
