Opalized Fossil Shell - 27.85 Cts.
Millions of years ago, nearly one-third of Australia was covered by
water. Scientists believe this cold, oxygen-poor inland sea
provided the perfect environment for the opalization of fossilized
clams. This top example of the variety features a bivalve shell
that exhibits a pinfire pattern. The colors visible include bright
flashes of blues and greens. On the "bottom" valve, there is a
small section of "fire" with vibrant flashes of the entire visible
spectrum. The viewer is hit with pink, green, blue, purple, and
orange flashes. Opalized fossils are only found in Australia,
making this spectacular specimen that much rarer and more
Measurements: 33.30 x 22.49 x 10.24 mm, 27.85 cts.
