    A very old hand-written label on the stretcher supports the provenance of the work

    The painting is also accompanied by a letter of attribution from Dr. Sam Segal and a copy of a pigment analysis and ee-radiograph study of the work.

    Condition Report*: canvas has an old wax lining, old layer of varnish over surface, substantial abrasion in large area of flower center left like many small dots, further areas of abrasion through varnish in lower areas of still life with another large area in flowers lower right, moth on branch significantly overpainted, signature deliberately not cleaned and visible under magnification through several layers of varnish.
