    Description

    Stellerite
    Garrawilla Station, Coonabarabran district
    Pottinger Co., New South Wales
    Australia
    1.73 x 1.83 x 2.11 inches (4.40 x 4.64 x 5.35 cm)

This Zeolite looks a lot like Stilbite, and is very closely related to its mineral cousin, but this example is a Stellerite from Australia. The soft, peachy "wheat sheaves" have formed a floral rosette of sorts here as the base of the crystals form a point from which the platy Stellerites sprout. These well-formed crystals of showy melon color make an alluring cavity, giving the little piece a depth and aesthetic of some note.
