    Japan Law Quartz

    Quartz var. Japan Law Twin
    Joaquim Felício, Minas Gerais, Brazil

"A transparent quartz Japan law twin about a foot across. This is the best specimen that Osorio Neto, Ed Swoboda and I got from our little quartz mine in the hills outside of Joaquim Felicio. This mine was a different one than the one from which we got all of good quartz crystals that had the green phantoms."
    - Rock H.

Well, to be honest, it's actually over 13.5 inches across. Largest ever found? Probably not. In the running for an outstandingly large example of this rare twinning law? You bet. Pictured in a magazine? Ditto. This thing is hefty!! Need something for scale? Look at the photos of Rock and Ed Swoboda - it's a whopper! Micromount collectors need not apply. There is a custom acrylic base.
    Overall Measurements: 13.8 x 10.2 x 2.0 inches (35.0 x 26.0 x 5.0 cm)

    Provenance: RHC #5184, acquired 1987

[Scale: 1 inch, with mark at 1 cm]
