    Description

Quartz Scepter var. Amethyst & Gemstone
Petersen Mountain ("Peterson Mountain"; Hallelujah Junction [sic])
    Hallelujah Junction area, Washoe Co.
    Nevada, USA

Petersen Mountain more commonly known as "Hallelujah Junction" is one of those places that makes serious mineral collectors take note, and this special "two for one" offering includes not only an amazing Quartz Scepter from the locality world-renowned for such material but also an incredible trillion cut gemstone weighing an astonishing 145.5 carats. The specimen component of this effectively "rough and cut" presentation is a multi-colored example of Amethyst, Citrine, and Smoky Quartz of high quality and considered to be one of the finest multi-colored scepters ever found, according to legendary mineral collector Paul Geffner, who authored the article on collecting at the famed locality in Vol. 82 No. 5 of "Rocks & Minerals" September/October 2007. The well-formed scepter features a big crystal with a cute sidecar in perpendicular attachment, anchored by a crystalline "stem" which serves to present the specimen vertically like a lollipop. The gemstone component consists of the enormous faceted example that boasts a light purple hue, with a minor tint of Smoky Quartz, and perfectly rounds out this parcel of special material from a locality universally respected and treasured by both mineral collectors and diggers alike. A custom base with an engraved acrylic plaque displays the scepter in ideal vertical orientation.
