    Description

    Meteorite & Dinosaur Bone Knife
    Gibeon Blade, Iron, fine octahderite
    Gibeon, Great Nama Land, Namibia
    Dinosaur Bone Handle, Jurassic
    Morrison Formation
    Utah

This unique decorative knife is quite the dichotomy - with a blade made from an iron Meteorite and a handle made from fossilized Dinosaur bone. The intricate blade is sharp on one edge and features the Widmanst├Ątten pattern on both faces which gives the blade a Damascus-style appearance. Its spine is flat, but still relatively thin, giving the overall blade a natural taper from top to bottom. The bolster has brass coloration, and the blade has a partial tang going into the bolster. The balance of the knife handle is reinforced with metal in lieu of full tang. The source of the Meteorite blade is the Gibeon octahedrite from Great Nama Land in Namibia, and the source of the "gem" Dinosaur bone is the Morrison Formation from the Jurassic of Utah. The blade measures 4.5 inches (11.43 cm) from the tip to the bolster, and the overall knife measures 10 inches (25.4 cm) from tip to butt. The knife comes in a stippled brown sheath. The unique piece was handmade with obvious skill and great care by St. Louis knife maker Randy Larsen.
    Overall Measurements: 9.84 x 1.30 x 0.70 inches (25.00 x 3.30 x 1.78 cm)
