    Manganoan Calcite with Pyrite
    Manaoshan Mine, Dongpo ore field
    Suxian District, Chenzhou, Hunan

A wonderful shape is obvious with this specimen, but it is the ideal pink colored discs that comprise this sizable piece that makes it so really special. The thin edges of the flat Calcites are dusted with a metallic, Pyrite coating adding an amazing contrast to the association. This "old" style material dates before 2010 and is among the first to come to market. Quite unusual in form, this mineral was part of the 'Crystalline Treasures of China' exhibition at the University of Arizona in 2013 which opened in conjunction with the Tucson Gem & Mineral Show that same year. The elegant offering is simply beautiful with an appearance that is both simple and complex at the same time. The balance of form and color results in an ideal specimen. Presented on a custom acrylic base, this representation has no visible damage and is as decorative as it is collectible. The Manaoshan Mine has produced one wonderful true pink Calcite with lots of character.
    Measurements: 10.24 x 7.87 x 3.94 inches (26.00 x 20.00 x 10.00 cm)

    Provenance: Ex. Robert Lavinsky Collection
