    DR Congo

This unique objet d'art is both a specimen and a lapidary work, a truly interesting fusion of two worlds. Malachite is prized for its rich green hue, a result of being a Copper byproduct. This fine example has color is spades along with a one-of-a-kind shape. The main face has a hybrid arrangement with both stalactitic and botryoidal crystals. In the middle of the "vug" type specimen is a hole, highlighted by shimmering Malachite crystals all the way around. The form is thought-provoking and looks to be biological. The collector Malachite has been cut and polished to highlight the internal structure of the natural stalactite in the lower left. This polished window creates a contrast between the inner and outer form. Specimens of this nature are not often available and are coveted for their shape and dichotomy. The dramatic piece of art is in excellent condition and has no repairs. The curiosity is an older piece dating back to the 1980s and is out of an old collection. This captivating cabinet specimen is accompanied by a custom acrylic base for easy installation.
