    Description

    Large Azurite & Malachite Box
Stone Source: Rubtsovskoe Cu-Zn-Pb deposit, Rudnyi Altai, Altaiskii Krai, Western-Siberian Region, Russia and South Ural, Russia
    Artist: Konstantin Libman

At first glance, this stunning box looks like a couple of different things; a Rorschach test, or maybe a topographic map with rivers of Azurite and Malachite forests. This box was handcrafted by master lapidary Konstantin Libman. The top consists of sliced and polished Azurite and Malachite, which has been placed in a sophisticated manner creating a "butterfly" pattern. The Azurite and Malachite veins pop off the subtle earthy browns and grays found in this natural stone. The box itself has been carved out of Diabase (Dolerite), an extremely hard igneous stone. The piece features the artist's serial number "0555" marked on the bottom. The box is finished with gold-plated brass fittings. It is in excellent condition, lined with Spanish Cedar and comes with a custom outer wooden protective box.
    Overall Measurements: 7.20 x 7.20 x 2.17 inches (18.30 x 18.30 x 5.50 cm)
