Description
Henbury Meteorite Slice TrioIron, IIIAB
Northern Territory, Australia - (24° 34'S, 133° 10'E)
Found: 1931
This Lot consists of a trio, of roughly similar, slabs of Henbury Meteorite, which have been cut, and then etched, to reveal the incredible Widmanstätten pattern associated with this Iron variety. Light and dark linear forms "criss-cross" the complex surfaces of the three meteorite slices that are further punctuated by multiple Triolite inclusions adding a level of contrast beyond just a tonality of its sliver and gray hues. The trifecta weighs a total of 1.5 kilograms (3.3 pounds) and consists of two basically identical slices and one that is a bit more "compressed" than the others. The set is an intriguing grouping of the variety. Each of these pieces of the meteorite first discovered in 1931 would stand alone as a fine Iron specimen.
Overall Measurements: 10.83 x 5.51 x 0.10 inches (27.50 x 14.00 x 0.26 cm), total weight 1,487 grams
[Scale: 1 inch, with mark at 1 cm]
