    Description

    Gold & Arsenopyrite in Quartz
Oriental Mine (Alta Mine), 16 to 1 Mine (Sixteen-to-One Mine; Original Sixteen-to-One Mine)
    Alleghany, Alleghany District (Forest District)
    Sierra Co., California, USA

This large and complex specimen of Gold & Arsenopyrite is itself a very unique association of minerals, yet so much more beyond just the unusual combination. The Arsenopyrite exhibits crystal faces, while the Gold displays numerous modified octahedrons and dodecahedrons. Mined in 2019, this quite rare specimen is one of THE best combinations of Gold crystals "floating" in Arsenopyrite likely to be seen. The weighty example consists of a blocky white Quartz matrix, framing a silvery mass of Arsenopyrite that hosts elegant patches of crystallized Gold over the neutral colored backgrounds. From the famed Oriental Mine in California, the collector specimen has been assayed and contains nearly 15 troy ounces of net Gold content. This hefty offering, weighing in total 908 grams, comes mounted on a custom engraved acrylic base for elegant display in a cabinet.
    Overall Measurements: 3.32 x 2.22 x 2.46 inches (8.43 x 5.63 x 6.25 cm)

[Scale: 1 inch, with mark at 1 cm]
