DescriptionGemstone: Opal - 7.42 Cts.
Opal cabochons are one of the most popular cut stones due to their incredible visible fire. This nearly 8 carat Opal from Ethiopia has a high dome cut with a slightly curved bottom. The stone features a 360-degree polish with incredible "play-of-color" visible from all sides. When viewed, the gem lights up with intense flashes of red, orange, green, blue, purple and yellow. The milky stone does have an irregular shape, but this was purposeful to maximize the color as there are clear areas that were retained for depth of color. Overall, this stone is electric and in great condition. There are a few patches of matrix visible inside but hardly noticeable.
Measurements: 14.35 x 12.44 x 9.67 mm, 7.42 cts.
Provenance: The Jena Blue Collection
Estimate: $800 - $1,200.
