    Gemstone: Opal - 50.29 Cts.

This sizable Opal is an outstanding offering, with an undeniable "play-of-color" which is truly incredible. The large 50+ carat specimen exhibits a chic elongated pear shape, which is symmetrical. The cabochon has a medium-dome with an excellent polish all the way around and a flat base. The entire stone 'lights' up with intense "fire" and features a different pattern on the front and reverse. The pattern on the front resembles a "feather" pattern, while the reverse has an almost "peacock harlequin" pattern. A number of colors are present including red, blue, green, orange, purple and yellow. When the stone is rotated, strong flashes of pink and turquoise become evident. The color combinations are endless. The stone's dark bodycolor is due to a smoke treatment. This is common with Opals from Ethiopia to enhance the natural "play-of-color" and bring out brighter flashes of color. This is a large and vibrant gemstone for the variety in overall great condition. This gem really needs to be viewed in person to truly appreciate the intense coloration and patterns. The combination of size and color makes this a very special Opal.
    Measurements: 49.61 x 19.85 x 10.80 mm, 50.29 cts.
