Description
Fire Opal
Gemstone: Fire Opal - 61.58 Cts.Queretaro, Mexico
The country of Mexico has been the world's primary source of Fire Opal for the past 100 years, and the unique variety of Opal is certainly aptly named for its fiery background color. The material is known for high translucency and "play of color" and is considered the most valuable and rare among the world's Opals. With a vivid reddish-orange hue being so prized, it is not hard to believe that this massive 61.58 carat example is likely one of the finest faceted Fire Opals in existence. The masterful step cushion cut of the gem makes it explode with color, which is highly saturated and consistent, across the natural stone. This singular example really needs no description as its supreme attributes speak for themselves. This is an enormous faceted Fire Opal yet still a gemstone of superb quality. This one really must be seen to be believed.
Measurements: 33.82 x 21.67 x 17.19 mm, 61.58 cts.
Provenance: The Jena Blue Collection
