    Gemstone: Amethyst - 210.5 Cts.
Petersen Mountain ("Peterson Mountain"; Hallelujah Junction [sic])
    Hallelujah Junction area, Washoe Co.
    Nevada, USA

This massive Amethyst gemstone was mined from one of the best-known localities in the world - Petersen Mountain at the Hallelujah Junction area in Nevada. Collectors know and covet this material for its deep purple color with hints of red and brown. This behemoth of a stone is just that. The 210+ carat stunner has a rich and well-saturated purple hue with a haunting reddish-brown secondary color. Keep in mind it took a huge gemmy crystal to cut, facet and polish into this colossal oval beauty. There are visible "smoky" inclusions, which makes sense, as this locality is known for its impressive Smoky Quartz scepters. There are a few nicks around the stone, but that is to be expected with such a large example. This truly collector level gem is in overall good condition and in a class by itself.
    Measurements: 43.32 x 35.90 x 25.29 mm, 210.5 cts.

    Provenance: The Jena Blue Collection
