    Gao-Guenie Meteorite
    Ordinary chondrite, H5
    Upper Volta, Burkino Faso - (11° 39'N, 2° 11'W)
    Fall: April, 1960

A remnant from one of the largest witnessed meteor showers in the history of the African continent, this piece of the Gao-Guenie Meteorite from West Africa is classified as an H5, ordinary chondrite. A most impressive piece weighing 312 grams and presented on a rather unique custom base, the stony meteorite has a nice shape, a lightly weathered and slightly "bleached" texture, and appears to be an oriented specimen. The simplistic elegance of this space rock is notable as is the subtle contrast of its soft brownish-black surface with a sprinkling of rust golden flecks resulting in a captivating meteorite.
    Overall Measurements: 2.83 x 2.36 x 2.00 inches (7.20 x 5.99 x 5.08 cm), weighs 312 grams

[Scale: 1 inch, with mark at 1 cm]
