    Fossil Palm Frond
    Sabalites sp. and Priscacara sp.
    Green River Formation
    Wyoming, USA

This absolutely majestic inlay piece from the world renowned Green River Formation features a giant Sabalites Palm Frond as the centerpiece of this huge fossil mural, which also features a trio of smaller Priscacara fossil fish adding to the charm of the spectucular offering. Palm Fronds are relatively rare in the strata and do have significant dramatic impact even compared to other major fauna from the iconic location. Given the nature of the material, and considering it was quarried out of the rock, substantial time and much expertise was required to bring forth this work of natural fossil art. Restoration is obviously a necessary and significant component of bringing such wonderful pieces to life. There appear to be two arching irregular channels in the flowering fossil that likely represent fractures that have been repaired, which is consistent with fossils of this size and nature. The captivating, leafy brown Palm Frond measures an impressive 69 inches (175 cm) by 48 inches (122 cm). Clearly, this statement piece of museum proportions deserves to be on permanent display in a very prominent place. The geometric piece boasts a dark chestnut brown frame bordering the magnificent aquatic diorama from the Eocene. The base was for photographic purposes only and does not come with the Lot, which is designed to be mounted on a wall.
    Overall Measurements: 74.00 x 50.00 x 3.50 inches (187.96 x 127.00 x 8.89 cm)
