    Description

    FOSSIL MARBLE TABLETOP
    Orthoceras sp., Agoniatites sp.
    Devonian
    Sahara Desert, near Talmud, Morocco

The fossil marble of Morocco is renowned for its beauty and this is an excellent demonstration as to why. The central section of this tabletop has an array of lovely earthy colors in shades of brown, red and tan, strikingly punctuated by the light-colored remains of cephalopods Orthoceras and Agoniatites. Bound with a thin line of brass it is framed by similar marble, but in a more sober black-gray color containing more of the dramatic white cone-like Orthoceras shells. Mother Nature's furniture making skills have yet to be surpassed by man. This fine example measures 39 3/4 x 24 inches.
