    Description

    Fossil Ichthyosaur Mortality Plate
    Temnodontosaurus
    Jurassic
    Lyme Regis, Dorset, England

This Ichthyosaur fossil from the Jurassic deposits of England includes a skull and post-cranial material in a complex natural arrangement on a gray matrix. The concentration of brown bones is complex, and the dynamic nature of the prehistoric scene is very dramatic. The fossil remnants are in wonderful condition requiring minimal repair after restoration. The skull contains a majority of the creature's dentition along with several vertebrae, ribs and paddle bones that have been preserved with the skull and the vertebrae mostly articulated. Paleontology pioneer Mary Anning did much of her early work in that Dorset locality.
    Overall Measurements: 36.61 x 16.14 x 0.79 inches (93.00 x 41.00 x 2.00 cm)

Provenance: The Property from an East Coast Collection
