    Fossil Crinoid Plate
Platycrinites saffordi, Eretmocrinus granuliferus, Halysiocrinus tunicatus, Cyathocrinites multibrachiatus, Agaricocrinus americanus, Platyceras acutirostre & Abrotocrinus sp.
    Edwardsville Formation
    Montgomery County, Indiana, USA

This naturally artistic assemblage of Crinoids in matrix from the famed Edwardsville Formation, which has produced numerous examples of the iconic material from the locality in Indiana, is comprised of a number of varieties with a myriad of crowns, arms, stalks and even a rare and uncommon anal tube. A 'masterpiece' of painstaking preparation and restoration, made even more difficult by the hardness of the matrix rock, these unusual, captivating and delicate fossils are showcased wonderfully on this plate that originated from Tom Witherspoon Fossils, rather well known in the trade for superior "prep" work. From the variety of genera, to the uncommon twist of one broad stem, this excellent assemblage offers representations of the Platycrinites, Eretmocrinus, Halysiocrinus, Cyathocrinites, Agaricocrinus as well as Abrotocrinus varieties, and even one attached Platyceras Gastropod, evidencing a symbiotic relationship with host Crinoids. The sheer beauty, inherent dynamism of the fossils, and detail make this a very special representation of the variety.
