    Shangbao Mine, Leiyang Co.
    Hengyang, Hunan

A classic, if not THE classic, Shangbao Fluorite specimen, this museum-quality stunner was likely mined in 2008-2009 shortly before the mine officially closed to economic mining. This plate is simply amazing, with the characteristic two-tone colors of bluish-purple and orange-yellow, the result of inclusions, not surface staining that recedes. In pristine condition and presented on a custom acrylic base, this striking offering - likely the largest known fine specimen from the pocket - is simply exceptional. Crystal faces approach 2 inches (5 cm) of various color naturally and artistically populate both sides of this extreme example on a beautiful plate of white matrix with pointy crystalline forms. The cuboctahedron crystals are sublime and amazing with two-tone colors to each and different hues between the growths on top and bottom of the matrix. From the private Chinese collection of Dr. Zhouping Guo, this represents the finest of the variety and is superb on both sides. The grouping consists of numerous individual crystals, as well as clusters of intermingled examples, resulting in a visually incomparable specimen of Fluorite. Standing over 10 inches (25 cm) without the base, this majestic representation is museum-worthy for both size and quality. This is the Shangbao to have if the goal is to have a piece without any real peer.
    Measurements: 10.24 x 8.66 x 2.76 inches (26.00 x 22.00 x 7.00 cm)

Provenance: Ex. Dr. Zhouping Guo Collection
