Medina Pegmatite Field, Pedra Azul Pegmatite District, Minas Gerais, Brazil

"A cluster of intergrown gemmy root beer colored fairly transparent apatite crystals to about an inch. The specimen is about four inches in diameter. Bought the specimen from Alvaro Lucio in Belo Horizonte."
    - Rock H. Currier

Some of the nicest Apatite crystal groups ever found are from the land of "Carnaval" and the "samba." Each 'find' tends to be distinctive as to appearance, allowing you to ascribe a likely locality to any given specimen based on: crystal form, luster, and color alone. Handy if you didn't get a label or you lost one. The Medina ones often tend to have that distinctive 'root-beer' color that Rock refers to, along with great luster, transparency, and good form.
    Overall Measurements: 3.9 x 3.1 x 2.6 inches (10.0 x 8.0 x 6.5 cm)
    Offered at no reserve

Provenance: Bought from Alvaro Lucio [RHC #5131, acquired 1987]

[Scale: 1 inch, with mark at 1 cm]
