    Description

    Crystallized Gold on Quartz
    Red Bank Mine
    Bagby, Bagby-Mariposa-Mount Bullion-Whitlock District
    Mother Lode Belt
    Mariposa County, California, USA

Not only is this crystallized Gold on Quartz specimen clearly visually exceptional, it also has an interesting and intriguing provenance involving two legendary figures in the Gold and mineral mining business. Elvis "Buzz" Gray mined this piece out of the famous Red Bank Mine in 1971 and commented at the time that it was the finest that he had ever seen from the locality. The mineral then made its way into the collection of his long-time business partner William "Bill" Forest, who gave it the enticing nickname the 'Dancing Ladies,' where it remained until 2004.

With an incredible shape, akin to a 'dragon' in the abstract, and brilliant crystallized Gold from top to bottom, this latticework of golden-yellow, atop a mass of milky white and charcoal gray Quartz matrix, is truly something to behold. A top specimen on all counts, this offering is also from a locality that is not often seen much any longer, making it somewhat of a rarity as well.

The leafy, sharp, and dimensional aspects of this vibrant crystallized Gold make it one highly collectible museum quality specimen. This singular example offers superb aesthetics, elegant form, and impressive size that combine to result in an absolutely superior large cabinet Gold.
    Overall Measurements: 4.35 x 2.53 x 1.78 inches (11.06 x 6.43 x 4.52 cm), weighs 295 grams

Provenance: Ex. Bill Forest Collection, The Jena Blue Collection
