Colossal Nantan Meteorite on Custom Metal Armature
    Iron, IAB-MG
    Guangxi Province, China

The Nantan meteorite that was found in southern China in 1958 may have actually fallen in the year 1516 and may have been a witnessed fall. This fall scattered across a field some 17 miles (28 kilometers) long and 5 miles (8 kilometers) wide, near the city of Nantan, in Guangxi Province. Fragments of the Iron Meteorite were abundant, but not in large masses, as with this colossal ¾ ton phenomenon, which has been mounted on a custom metal armature to ensure a safe and elegant display. The sheer magnitude of this Nantan meteorite alone makes it worthy of classification as one of the most significant meteorites in private ownership, but the quality of this gigantic Iron projectile from space only adds to the compelling story. The surface has extensive ruts and texture. The meteorite reveals both a rust brown coloration and a metallic shiny silver, which covers much of the exposed Iron mass. Weighing an incredible 1,588 pounds (721 kilograms), this is a museum quality specimen to say the least! This is an enormous, Iron meteorite and likely one of only a small number of huge specimens ever approaching this size range. This is a truly colossal specimen and represents a rare and unique opportunity for a collector of meteorites for both its size and quality. Meteorites of this caliber are normally reserved for scientific institutions.
    Overall Measurements: 45 x 30 x 30 inches (114.3 x 76.2 x 76.2 cm)
