    Sakoany deposit, Katsepy
    Mitsinjo, Boeny

One of the favorite Lots in this sale, this Celestine specimen is fantastic. This top-example from an iconic Madagascar locality is one of the better pieces mined. This cabinet sized offering features a majestic and dramatic main crystal flanked by two smaller crystals then further supported by a cluster of well-formed "matrix" crystals. More impressively, the main crystal measures 4.72 inches (12 cm), which is incredibly rare, making the odds 1 in 10,000. The pristine specimen features a 360-degree orientation with deep, haunting, gray-blue coloration and excellent prismatic terminations. All of the crystal faces exhibit nice luster and an overall glassy appearance. This example is out of the personal collection of Dr. Federico Pezzotta of Milan. Having traveled to Madagascar dozens of times, Dr. Pezzotta was a contracted government mineralogist consultant allowing him to "cherry pick" top examples such as this one to amass an amazing collection. This showy specimen has no repairs and is aesthetically balanced in terms of both color and form. The outstanding example is accompanied by an engraved custom acrylic base. Known for its decorative examples, this Madagascar export is a class above the rest.
    Measurements: 5.64 x 4.30 x 2.87 inches (14.33 x 10.91 x 7.30 cm)
