    Description

    Calcite with Hematite
    Daye iron mine, Tieshan District
    Huangshi, Hubei
    China

Of the offerings in this grouping, this represents another of the four specimens from Daye which show Calcite with Hematite inclusions that have resulted in four unique effects. This piece, very unlike any of the other three, is simply gorgeous with an elegant simplicity. The massive spray of colorful points has a dangerous shape and convex form as its crystals rise up and out of the underlying crystalline matrix. The rich reddish spears have a deep cinnamon coloration due to the presence of the Hematite, and many of the geometric faces have sparkling sugary mineralization. The visual impact of this piece is striking as the combination of color, sharpness and size result in a spectacular mineral specimen, especially for Calcites. Measuring over 8 inches (20 cm) across, this stunner will be prominent in any minerals display case or cabinet. There are a few inconsequential nicks to some of the terminations but, overall, this piece is in excellent condition.
    Measurements: 8.27 x 6.30 x 2.95 inches (21.00 x 16.00 x 7.50 cm)
